Mount Wilson

Mount Wilson is a heritage garden village only two hours from Sydney, right near the Blue Mountains in NSW. The area has magnificent bushland and rainforest, walks and canyons as well as historic houses and grand exotic gardens, some of which are open to the public.

It’s a beautiful area to photograph in Autumn when the leaves start turning shades of yellow, orange and red. It’s also a beautiful peaceful area and one where you can get right back to nature.

This panorama I photographed there is of the Little Red Gate at Bebeah Gardens. It is the most photographed spot in Mount Wilson and for obvious reasons as it makes such a beautiful photo. I was also lucky to get a hint of fog while I was there that makes this image extra special to me.

Bebeah gardens were originally built by Edward Cox in 1880. Sprawling over many acres the garden includes various vistas of formal country garden. The name ‘Bebeah’ is believed to be an Aboriginal word meaning ‘a place where stone axes are found’.
