Lady Macquarie’s Chair

Mrs Macquarie’s Chair is also known as Lady Macquarie’s Chair. It is located directly east of the Opera House on the eastern edge of the Royal Botanic Gardens. It’s a Sydney landmark, and hands down probably the best spot in Sydney to take a photo at sunset. As you can see from this photo, when you get a good sunset at this location you look in awe at the sheer beauty of Sydney.

The clouds that afternoon looked magnificent and I really anted to get a panorama photo of the city from Lady Macquarie’s Chair. I always dreamt of the whole sky lighting up in a 180 degree view.

I set up my camera and waited patiently for sunset. I always get excited before I shoot, especially when I think it’s going to be spectacular. As the sun set nothing happened. the sky remained grey and didn’t light up. I was disappointed and packed up my gear.

After I had zipped up my bag, I stood up and I saw a faint pink appear in the sky. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I ripped open my bag and quickly setup my camera again. The sky behind the city lit up magically and I managed to capture this image. Unfortunately the entire sky didn’t light up across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and North Sydney, but it was still beautiful and i felt so extremely lucky.
