I thoroughly enjoy taking photographs of lighthouses. The powerful structure of a lighthouse always adds such an interesting element to a photo. In Sydney we have some amazing lighthouses to photograph, one being Macquarie Lighthouse in Vaucluse which was built in 1883 and is located on the oldest lighthouse site in Australia. Even after 160 years, the ships that sail into the harbour still depend on the bright lights of Sydney’s lighthouses to guide them to safety.

 

As we face east, there is always a chance of capturing a gorgeous sunrise behind them. I have been blessed to witness quite a few glorious sunrises with the majestic lighthouses as the subject.
